I do it all the time with cheap cues, and never had an issue. Wouldn't do it with collector cues. Why chance it?

Im in the same boat as you, i have a viking and meucci in a case i keep in my car, has gone through many a cold day and it hasnt harmed them in any way yet, and its nice to have a decent cue with you for short notice games, but along with what everyone else is saying, my custom? never, ever....ever
