keith i have an important question, well to me it is. i have been playing pool for about 3-4 yrs now and have dedicated myself to it trying to become the best i can. i have to say for the most part it has payed off because i went from a banger to hangin with the big boys. but i dont want to hang with the big boys, i want to go up and beyond. everytime i ask them what i need to do to make that next jump they all just tell me that it must be something mental. that i got the stroke, mindset, play killer safes and have a good sense of how to read the rack and run the balls. well neways my question is how is it possible to jump this mental hurdle if thats what it is? i know its a little hard for you to point stuff out since you cant physically see me. but what do you remember helped you when you found yourself at this position? i refuse to give up and play with all my heart everytime i step up to the plate, but it is a little aggrivating knowing that, that next level is right there and barely out of my grasp. any help you can give would be greatly appreciated. thanks a bunch david c.....

David, I used to get hypnotized watching those good players myself. One thing I can suggest that could possibly help you is to try to see what they're doing with the cue-ball, and on the offs, you should try to utilize their knowledge and apply it to your game.

When practicing, get off to another table by yourself and work on all the things that you're having trouble with, and don't be afraid to explore new techniques.

When you take the time to practice and get comfortable with all the shots that you have been working on, you will gain confidence. There aren't any shortcuts. Practice works miracles. I used to do it every single day.

Good luck to you.
