Who wins in this match up - 10 ahead for a thousand? Even - no spot.

Jeff Abernathy. He plays good. He lives close to where I do, and I have seen him in action alot lately. His game has picked up alot is the past couple of years. I know he lost at the Derby, but I think he beats Kelly Fisher even. IMO of course.

On abarbox, Jeff hands down. On a regular size table, well, Jeff. Kelly's got game (I had a chance to see alot of her game in NJ) but to steal one from Smorg...Big fish eat little fish....or sumthin like that.

Assuming we're talkin 9 ball.

Okay, I'm really curious. Is this something that could conceivably happen or are you just picking a random male player and random female player?

I put my money on Jeff.....while we are on the subject. What about Tony Watson vs. Karen Corr??

I like Watson in 10 ahead set, In a race to a 11.....Karen might have the edge because of her consistent play.

I don't think I understand this. You favor Watson in a 10-ahead set but if it were a race to 11, you like Karen because of her consistent play? Wouldn't consistent play favor the 10-ahead set over a straight race to 11?

Please, don't highjack the thread. I don't care a thing about Tony Watson Vs. Karen Corr. This thread is about Kelly Fisher Vs. Jeff Abernathy who wins?
Who wins in this match up? 10 ahead for a thousand? Even no spot. You haven't seen her lately she has really learned the game and she runs racks.

"Gremlin"

Hijack the thread? Huh? I was responding to a comment that was made IN THIS THREAD. I haven't made ANY comment about Kelly Fisher or her game so I don't know what you're talking about and um, I have seen her lately.

Jude,

If John says she is ready then she is ready it's only a grand? I'll back her he he he small change. Tony Watson and Karen Corr are experienced gamblers.

"Gremlin" :D

Gremlin, what are you talking about? Why do you keep responding to my posts if you have no interest in responding to what I have to say? If you want to gamble on Kelly Fisher, that's your business. I don't care.

Oh man, one of these threads... If the match hasn't happened in real life, it's quite difficult to determine who would have won. It's like arguing could Mosconi beat Reyes in straight pool ? Or could Bruce Lee kick Muhammad Ali's ass ? Is my dad tougher than yours ? Playground stuff, IMHO :)

Mosconi would beat Reyes
Bruce Lee would kick Muhammad Ali's ass

and um, my daddy would be your daddy's daddy.

From what was said earlier, Kelly Fisher won in five hours and I guess the reason why the original poster is making a big deal about it is because she was the likely underdog going into the match. I don't know either player really nor do I know the circumstances but I do know that 10 ahead is a fairly decisive victory.

LOL ! :D

"Who's your daddy's daddy ?!" :)

I'd have to back Kelly Fisher over Jeff Abernathy in a ten ahead race.
As for Corr vs Watson, I'm guesing Karen needs the seven.

I think most people would have picked Jeff. I think they thought they had the nuts since they offered to raise the bet to 2 dimes before the match started. I had half the action and I knew that Jeff was going to have to play nearly perfect to beat her.

They didn't want a second set.

Jeff is a pretty good player but neither he nor Kelly really got the breaks going so no one strung racks.

Against someone like Watson Kelly would need to have the break working so she could put multiple racks together. 4 packs and more are commonplace among the top-notchers.

I just wanted to see the board's line and brag about Kelly a little bit. Anyone want to bet she is in the top three by the end of the year (provided that there are enough points available for her to get there)?

It's not a possibility to be taken lightly. I'm guessing that Fisher and Corr will still hold the top two spots come year end, but the race for third between Jeanette Lee, Ga Young Kim, Kelly Fisher, and a few others should be very hotly contested. If forced to make a prediction, I'd guess Kelly Fisher will finish the year ranked sixth. Seems we agree she's ready to bust out this year on the tour. She has already served notice on tour that she'll have to reckoned with, even by the very best.

the grim

who wins here?
