Kelly Heptig is from Manhattan, KS (go Kansas State) and has been building them for about 4-5 years now. I've got one of his and have gotten many of my friends, 5 or 6 of them, to purchase or have cues commissioned by him. They all play great. Kelly's way of coring his cues allows every cue to play almost exactly the same - a very solid hit with a great opportunity for finesse.
My personal playing cue from Kelly is a tulipwood forearm with ebony points and birdseye maple recut points. In the BEM is buffalo horn diamonds. All finished out with a black stack leather wrap and a Moori Medium tip. Two shafts .... main playing shaft is at about 12.00mm and the second shaft is about 12.50mm give or take.
I used to play with a McDermott and when I got this one, it took a little bit to get used to the much stiffer shaft and more solid hit than I was use to, but now I can't play with anything other than Kelly's cues. They're great, and they're only going to increase in value as far as I'm concerned. All of the people here in the midwest that play with Kelly's cues (4 or 5 dozen different people) all have nothing but the highest regard for his cues and their playability.
