kelly pea ideas

I'm not sure where I should post this so I stuck it in the main forum. I have been slowly working on an Irish pub themed billiard/game room in my basement.

Anyway, when playing games that use the set of 16 peas, you often must keep you numbered ball in some safe spot. I came up with an idea; I want to make a nice celtic wood sign that reads Kelly Peas with 16 small brass hooks to hang small bags from. That way it looks like a nice little piece on the wall to match the room and while playing kelly pool etc, you can hang your peas secret in its bag on any hook and its stored safe. You just have to remember which hook.

What do you think of my idea? What are some other creative ideas? Please share! Maybe someone will give me a better crafty idea.

Would it be better to remember that number 5 is in bag 11... or is it number 11 in bag 5?

Traditionally speaking, how were these stored during play? Not counting the unused peas that remain in the bottle. They were probably put in the pocket I'd guess. Not that I don't trust my friends, but I fear these would get forgotten or misplaced.

Does anyone have any other creative ideas? Please share.

Tuck your pea face down on the table and under a short rail cushion.
When a pay ball is made, that pea number goes back into the bottle.
