I must start by saying that my benchmark for how a cue should play for my taste is Mike Lambros, for me, the hit and feel of Lambros cues is just about perfect. I've watched Kenny's cues for last several years and contacted him right when he was in the process of moving south and agreed to catch up with him after he got settled in down in Florida. I found myself getting talked into driving over to Panama City to check out some Rob Harris cues (more about him in the next review) and I decided we had to go see Kenny while we were in town. Kenny started pulling monster cues out of cases that were shipping out and I was blown away at what I saw. He had one cue that wasn't spoken for and I couldn't get my cash out of my pocket fast enough. This cue is a very traditional 4pt, solid ivory 5/16-14 piloted joint, two 13mm shafts ivory ferrules and a perfect smooth leather wrap. In fact when he pulled it out of the case I thought the cue was a full-splice because the wrap is perfectly done and matches the ebony perfectly. The points are perfect, veneers pop like they are electric and every thing lines up great. I've owned most of the greats, Boti,Herceck, Searing, Schick,Bender, Southwest etc and these points are better or as good as any I've every seen. They are really just that good! I've never owned a cue with a finish that is this deep and perfect, it looks like something from a Mercedes lot. Kenny has some fancy tedious process, what ever it is, it is the nuts plain and simple. Kenny was nice enough to change the tips and take the shafts down to 12.8 while I was there and then we headed to the pool room hit a few balls. Cue weighed about 19.3-19.4 oz (which I lowered to my preferred 19 later) The sound this cue makes hitting balls is god-like, just such a nice tone. Now, the hit is a little on the stiffer side of what I usually like, but the cue-ball movement is very accurate and predictable. With Kenny's standard taper this cue would probably not be my daily player, but I like the cue so much I've asked Kenny to make me a 3rd shaft with a longer looser taper and we'll see what happens. I lived with this cue for about 2 weeks and promptly ordered another. I told him to inlay the hell out of it, and gave no input other than ivory joint, I'm confident he will deliver me a monster. Kenny is truly one of the good guys, super easy to talk to and a lot of fun to hang with. If you are on the fence about picking up a Murrell cue, don't wait, pull the trigger, you can't go wrong in my opinion.
