Kid Delicious In a Slump?

When Danny won reno about a year ago and was placing high in all of these top-notch tournaments there was all this buzz about him. These past few months I haven't really heard anything about him. He's not winning tournaments or placing very high. Is he in a slump or what? During the time he won reno, was he in dead punch for a few weeks and it went away? It seems like every player has this phase where they get into dead stroke and suddenly everyone knows about them for a month, and suddenly you don't hear about them for two or three years.

I have also seen this happen when their just not as hungry as they use to be.
On the flip side, it's a lot of pressure also. Nobody underestimates his abilities or size any more.

I wouldn't say he is in a slump. The buzz surrounding him was two-fold: for one thing he was winning major events, but also he was being seen as a major tournament player. Delicious was a staple on the gambling scene and later some smaller tours, but I think many questioned whether he had what it takes to compete on the highest level. When he began placing above and even beating the highest ranked players, it created a buzz, and people became impressed with his ability to really compete despite his unorthodox style. Now that he has proven himself that initial buzz has worn off, and he is in the pack with the world's elite. At that level, there is any number of players that can snap off a tournament, and for him to really dominate would be very impressive, but unrealistic at this point. I believe he has many good years ahead of him, and he deserves congradulations merely for rising up and being a name to watch.

Travelling around the country and playing pool is hard enough but Kid now is also a businessman with cues, dvds,a book deal, and oh yeah a MOVIE to worry about.

Is he playing as well as a year ago? Maybe not but then again stats in tourneys aren't everything...he did pretty well in a private match recently for a good number of marbles. He took Billy Palmer to the hill in one pocket at the Hard Times event and only lost to Alishan there after Damian made a ball on his break 2 out of three times.A few rolls away from placing top 4 maybe...

His focus is more on the big events. He's going to Taiwan for the world championships and really wants to do well. His buddy Mike Davis is going, too, and I expect good things from them.

Danny placed 5th at the SML Open back in April and that tourney was loaded with top players, he might not be performing up to his personal standards but I'm sure that will change soon enough. If you want to talk about slumps how about Jose parica

Kid D in a slump?

I have a little inside info. to why he is in a "slump". 1st - He is working sooo hard meeting with the writer & producer of his movie. 2nd - They all would like to release the movie next summer (2006). 3rd - He barely has time to sleep because when he is not working on the script he is at a tourney. It is tough for him to practice a lot because he is stopped and asked for pics and autographs every 5 mins. He loves every sec. of it, but it wears heavily on his game. Hopefully in Taiwan he can get some R & R, do well, and come back refreshed and ready to snap off some more big tourneys. If his fans are supportive of him it gives him more confidence, he appreciates them greatly. Trust me this is not the last time you will see Kid D winning and placing high in tournaments.

I Love Him! ;)
