This doesn't sound correct. I know Corey didn't pass up a game from Danny getting weight. Just to let you know Corey will play danny even with a 2:00 min. shot clock in Ohio. Corey will give Danny the last 2 with a 1:00 min. shot clock. The 8 ball with a 30 second shot clock and the called 7 with a 15 second shot clock, the wild 7 with a 10 second shot clock. Let me know if Danny want's to do something, he has both mine and Corey's number.

They were only in Philly Friday night to Saturday, and didn't stay the whole weekend. They are back home in Ohio now.
 
I don't know either player personally but it sounds to me like Basavich was just barking and that's all. If I had to putmy money on either player, it'd be Corey. And if he lost, I would chalk it up to a bad day as he is, in my opinion, clearly a better player than Danny.

This is not a personal attack on Danny. Its just an observation. I've watched the two of them play and based on all that I've seen, I think Corey is a stronger player. JMHO

Dude, what in the heck are you talking about??? :confused: No one here said anything negative about Danny or Corey or gambling. :rolleyes: Simply stated, most people don't think DB can give CD the 8 and come out a winner. It's all a matter of opinion & doesn't mean people don't like DB or his game.
 
I dont think Danny could be Corey straight - Deuel is far more advanced than DB. DB can play but not on that level, for that matter a lot of pros cant play on Coreys level. I mean you have A+ players and A++ and then people that just rise above that and Corey Deuel is one of the ones that rise above.

I have to respectfully disagree. I think Basavich is a great player but I don't think he can compete on Corey's level! Especially giving him any kind of weight!
 
I like Corey's end of it too with Kid D giving him the 8. I think though that we may be underestimating the power of excruciatingly slow play on Corey's game.

As do most here, Pharaoh. I have never been noted as one of the "sharpest tools in the shed". But I have seen both gamble many times. In a race, or in a short ahead set, I think Corey has the edge. But in a long ahead set, I think that Danny has the advantage. In recent times that I have seen Corey gamble, I notice that he seems easier to lose concentration that in the past. Danny's only disadvantage is his size, but he has proven that he can play for many hours at maximum concentration, so unless the match lasts more than 16-18 hours, I have to give the nod (IMO) to Danny.

And to add one more bit of fuel to the flame, I must respectfully disagree with bizboy313. I think that Efren beats Corey quite easily giving him the 8.

No no no I disagree. It would be a coin toss at any time with Efren and Deuel. For example two years ago at US open when Efren had Deuel down like 5-10 in a race to 11 and Corey pulled it out and beat Efren. I mean they are both talented and at any given day you could win or loose money on either one of them playing each other.

In an even race, my money's on Efren every time. Of course either one of them can win any given set, but Efren has to be the favorite here.

It's an interesting question as to whether the 8-ball would make a difference. I tend to think it would shift the balance.
 
First off I have played them both. Corey is by far a more talented player. If they play rack your own it is not even a contest playing even, Corey will ROB him!!. Second like I said I have played them both and I had fluffed a $ 500 set off to Kid a few years ago getting weight and we had agreed to play a $ 5000 set the next night and he left town. The point of this if I wouldn't play Corey with the same game. If Kid and everybody wants to find out who the better player is i.e. who PLAYS the game better, it is simple see if Danny wants to play Corey the 15 ball ghost $ 1000 a game make it take it like in basketball. Meaning if you break and run you win $ 1000 and you get to go again. When you miss ther other guy goes. Playing the 15 ball ghost will prove who is the better player, Danny won't have to worry about Corey soft breaking the 15 ball ghost and Danny can try his best to see what stalling does for his 15 ball ghost game. Lets see Dnny put that game under the microscope and see what he comes up with. Malignant cancer to his wallet. I have only one request if Danny will play corey that game I want 4 days notice... the first day I will rob every 7-11 I know of... the second day I will see how much money I can get for 1 of my kidneys on the black market... the 3rd day I will be burning my house to the ground to collect the insurance money... the 4th day I will put all the money on Corey and watch him rob Danny.......... and oh yeah.. the 5th day..... I will be in jail for robbing the 7-11's and Corey will be next to me for robbing Danny! The police had put out an APB after the match usind Kid's description of Corey... around 5' 10" 140- 160 lbs. light brown hair.. identifying characteristics- he will be carrying all of Kid D.'s bankroll and NEVER misses a f****** ball. This just in... Corey is going to beat the case because the police lineup was biased... The police put together a line up of possible suspects using only Kids description of what The player could do with a cuestick i.e. ability. The problem with the line up is when the police gathered up everyone that had the abilities Kid mentioned the line up consisted of Corey and the rest Philipinos. His lawyer says he will walk easy. Plus luckily Kid didn't put up any fight because if he did he could have gotten hurt. They do however still have the smoking cues...

Efren and Corey will match up even almost everytime I think in 9 ball. 9 ball is too much of a momentum game and shot makers game for Efren to have any real huge advantage over someone who plays Coreys speed. But as for Danny and Corey, Danny has to have alot of heart to offer that game and I think that for 20k, Corey's concentration will stay in the game despite the slow play of Danny.

I am still chuckling, but really, when Danny was around here off and on for 4-5 months, I saw him play maybe 6 times, and even played him myself on a challenge table, and he was a little slow, and more so on a real difficult shot, but I have come across a lot slower, and I am not too patient with 'going to the dentist' players. He is definitely a character and kind of a throwback to the old Pool characters some.

I am not trying to be facetious or anything, but what exactly has Cory won in the way of tournaments since winning the US Open in 2001?
