Kielwood Cue Shaft - Possibly F/S

Last October, I purchased my first KW cue shaft. It was made by Cory Barnhart and is a radial joint, 29.5”, 12.85mm, short ferrule and 3.81ozs. The tip is Cory’s and I fell in love with how it plays. So much so I embarked on trying to find a little heavier Kielwood shaft weighing at least 4 ozs. The catch is I want the shaft to be uncored, just wood and and without any weight insert added by the builder. Well, that turned into a long search but eventually a few cue makers came forth contacting me that they can build a KW shaft the way I want it to be.

Last week I received two beautiful flat faced wood KW shafts weighing 4.0 ozs and 4.15 ozs. The shafts play fantastic and now that I have a cue maker that can build what I want, well, that’s exactly what I now want. SSDiver2112 just built a gorgeous KW shaft that fulfills my requirements so he’s someone I’d consider in addition to the cue builder that recently built my last two KW shafts. So before I bother to post my Barnhart KW shaft for sale so I can order another slightly heavier version, I figured I’d ask to see if there’s any interest or questions.

The ironic part is the Barnhart KW shaft meets my min. weight requirement but I’d prefer it was a 1/4 oz. heavier. Nonetheless, if I kept it, I’ve got zero complaints because it plays great which is why I added two more KW shafts. I just would like all my KW shafts to weigh four ounces so I’m now wondering if I should sell it so I can order another 4 oz. KW shaft. So although this isn’t a for sale listing, it is more of a for sale feeler. If I never sell the Barnhart KW shaft, I’d remain very pleased because it plays great but I just prefer it be a wee bit heavier.

So this thread can discuss my reasons why I want a heavier shaft, appeal of Kielwood or ferret out possible interested buyers. Now that I successfully located cue makers that can build what I want whereas many other builders declined, I’d like all my KW shafts to be 4 oz min. This way the weight of my orig. maple shafts won’t change by using Kielwood.

I realize 3.81 is really close but look at it this way. I am not being picayune but rather giving another player a chance to discover Kielwood shafts do play better and make a difference. Cory’s KW shaft was my initial introduction to Kielwood and I’m thinking about passing it along, however, if I kept it, I’d still be very happy. It is the reason why I fell in love with Kielwood shafts but only as long as the weight isn’t too light.

p.s. I changed the tip on the Barnhart KW to match my other cues……Kamui Black Clear Soft & Shaft Condition is A+.
