Does anyone have anyone have any experience with and/or care to comment about Kim Steele heated billiards tables? I may have an opportunity to pick one up for my home and I would appreciate any feedback...

I have an Elite Pro and it is a great table. Built very well . Solid and heavy. Beautiful wood with cherry stain, I think. Slates weigh about 550# each. Mine has the same heating system thermostat as the new Cheviottes. Don't know if they all did. I've played on a couple other tables just like this one and they all three played slightly different. Perhaps it was just the different table mechanics. Even though I recovered my table, I can't say I know what rubber is on it. It is not the Klebear or Artimus. I don't know who made the rubber for them. Anyone? I would definately consider the table. If you plan on putting it on anything but a cement floor, though, I would have someone look at the construction of the room it is going in and the rooms it may be going through. I cracked two floor joists getting it in to the basement steps. Faulty construction on my addition was the main reason.

Here is the Kim Steel or Sams web site www.billaressam.com

Good luck.

I have an Elitte Pro Spider 5x10. It's easy to relevel, only takes a few minutes.I forgot the brand of rubber. I used a hydraulic engine hoist and nylon strap to assemble the slates in my living room.I built special dollies out of 2x4s to move the slates.I love my Elitte Pro.

I see you're in the Chicago area. The Green Room in Downers Grove has two Kim Steel billiard tables - at least they did when I was going there a few years ago. You could stop by and play on them and see how you like them. I thought they were great, but I'm easily impressed by European billiard tables - they're so much better than the old Brunswicks.

This room also had Kim Steel pool tables. I thought they played great too. I'm surprised they haven't been more popular.

I think 63rd Street Billiards in Downers Grove has a few Kim Steele tables. I don't think they have a heated table set up though--you may want to call first if you are interested in checking them out.

It looks like the owner is trying to sell a heated one on so that may be who you are talking to already.

Chalk it Up Billiards in Manteno has all Kim Steele tables.

we have about 12 of them real great tables.

if you are ever in the Kankakee/South Chicagoland area stop by and check them out.

Unfortunately, The Green Room in Downers Grove, along with Green Pocket in Brookfield and Cue Time in Lyons, closed down not too long ago. That makes for the third Chicagoland pool hall casualty in the last 4 months.

Yep, the Green Pocket and Cue Time were not far from me. I'm pretty sure the guy at 63rd Street Billiards got some (if not all) of the tables from the Green Pocket. It's possible that he may have gotten the Kim Steeles from The Green Room too.
