Much has been said about Mr. Trudeau (KT) and his IPT on this board. Mr. KT's avowed mission is to give pool players the chance to win decent prize money which for so long they fully deserve. His so-called world 8ball championship between Mike and LJJ also reflects his belief that there is more to pool than 9ball. Mr. KT has all the right to find ways to achieve these twin goals his own way - it is his money, after all - but he can consider another way of achieving them without the hassle of organizing his own tournaments. He can, for instance, make use of the existing majors in pool (not just 9ball pool) to find and crown the real King of Pool, and compensate him with real money, at the end of the year. The player with the highest number of points accumulated, based on the following weightings, will be declared winner of the KEVIN TRUDEAU (KING OF POOL) TROPHY with a prize money not less than the sum of the champions' purses in these five majors of pool:
1. DCC Derby 1Pocket - 15%
2. BCA Straight Pool - 15%
3. World 9ball (which was held in Taiwan the last two years) - 30%
4. World 8ball (which was held in Fujaira last year) - 15%
5. U.S. Open 9ball - 25%
9ball, which is still the pros' tournament game today, rightfully gets a total 55% weighting. Any comments, and who do you think are the top 5 candidates for this crown?

SJM, thanks for sharing your comments. You hit it right on the head when you said that this will bring the different games into the limelight, because instead of choosing their spots, all the pros who want to take a legitimate shot at the King of Pool title will have to be active in all the five tournaments to get the points.
The profile, sponsorship and player support of these events will shoot up several notches. Another benefit I see is that, hopefully, it will draw out the top players from Taiwan who, save for the world 9ball championships, appear to shy away from the other four. If that happens, then we can truly say the true champion will emerge from the best players around the world.
 
Good idea, red. if this was held last year, who would have been crowned king of pool?

(i'm guessing efren because of his dcc win and 8-ball crown; although, alex p. did win the wpc and placed in the 8-ball championship and the US open...)
