Hi all,

This afternoon I was playing around with a new webcam and the Kinovea software. I was able to measure angles and put reference lines down for head, elbow, etc. As can be seen in the video, my head moves slightly which is something I wasn't even aware of.

I highly recommend anybody who wants to improve their game, start video taping yourself as it might surprise you :-)

Your head doesn't raise up that much, actually, and is probably better than even many very good players. Players that have absolutely no head raise on power shots are EXTREMELY rare.

A really great free program.
If your video cam will do 60 frames per second,
you will get really nice slow motion as well.

I don't think my current camera supports 60fps, but I'm already looking at upgrading to something better.

I'm really enjoying the capabilities of this free program. I've already identified several things to work on that will improve the fundamentals.

Thx!

Your head doesn't raise at all till the CB is well on its way, so I see no problem at all. A pro-level follow thru as well.

Off topic: You bear a remarkable resemblance to Jeremy Jones facially (in this video at least); could be taken as a younger brother easily. Jeremy's quite a big guy in person, and a great guy as well.

Cool stuff Pip, I have been meaning to play with Kinovea for quite some time but I just haven't had the chance yet. I watched the video you posted above, definitely cool stuff and endless possibilities.

For those of you that may not be aware, Pip moderates a cool billiards sub on http://www.reddit.com/r/billiards if I'm not mistaken. Check it out if you have time.
