Well summer is here and the Worm is out.
The "TULIPWOOD WORM"
Here you go folks my 3rd point cue is out and it's another home run.
I love tulip wood and I decided to build a cue using this material.
This is a 3point cue 3 hi and 3 lo.
The points are made from tulip wood and fenced in with natural and black veneer into a AAA grade BEM.
The rings are present at all locations and are made from Paduk with fiber black rings.
Handle is Tulipwood
Butt sleeve is a EXHIBITION grade BEM. After the cue was tapered the WORM appeared so I decided to leave it there because I feel it gives the cue character.
All black is Double Black Phenolic with the exception of the small fiber rings.
Pin is a SS 3/8x10 Martin style.
Length - 59 3/4
Weight is 18.2 with no weight bolt.
Balance point is right at the top of the wrap and it feels very nice.
Shaft is AAA Hard Rock Maple with matching ring , juma ferulle , and a soft Kamui Tip.
After the testing period of this cue (about a week I played with it) I can asses the following shooting characteristics.
Energy transfer is good ( lots of feel in the handle)
Cue has a softer hit due to the juma ferrule but can still move a ball very well. When you hit there is no PING sound more of a muffled sound.
I feel this cue plays very well with a S but that is personal preference.
Overall I am happy how this one turned out. It was a pleasure to build and I hope someone will have a pleasure to play with it.
