Anyone ever run a ladder tournament in their hall?

We had one in the Corner Pocket I played in when I was young that ran continually, basically worked likes this:

Run a regular tournament with as many players as you can get which establishes the order, lets say you get 32 players, you now have the order starting with number 1 down through number 32.

The results are posted on the wall somewhere, preferably on a black board or dry erase type setup so everyone can see the order and place they are in.

So now a player can challenge another player a maximum of 3 spots above him, the player contacts the opponent and they work out a time to play their match according to both their schedules, if the challenged player cannot or will not play within 7 days they lose their spot to the challenging player.

So if the challenger wins the match he takes over the above players spot and can continue challenging players above him working up the ladder towards the number one position. (the losing player exchanges spots with the challenger so he drops down a few spots) so the ladder is continually moving as people are exchanging positions.

Our number one player was deemed the house pro and got free table time, it kept the players coming into the room during the week for challenge matches.

Interesting concept...I like it and it seems like it would be something that would be easy enough to keep organized and would generate some interest.
