I definitely agree that the lag is important. I prefer to lag for the break. However, I play in a few bar table tournaments where everyone flips coins. If I have to flip, I would rather the other person call it because I always seem to lose.

Id rather lag. But explaining what the hell it is to some banger at a bar tourney aint worth the trouble. So just flip it and call tails. It never fails :D

little sidenote. Ive got a lucky coin i carry aroiund for flipping. I flipped it 10 times the other night either for tourney or for money and I won every one. that coin is staying with me for a while.

tx southpaw, you got a two-headed quarter or something? haha

OP: Lagging is the way to go, just don't bank it into the pocket.

Always lag for the break, and practice the lag. Ever see the 3 cusion guys do it? They're ridiculously consistent.

As Jason mentioned, I also use it as an opportunity to get the speed of the table. Shooting balls at lag speed can often get you where you want to go.

if you have practiced the lag shot your odds are much better than 50 / 50 that flipping a coin will give you. Playing almost every game with the exception of 14-1 the break is too important to allow to a 50 / 50 proposition / chance
nicely said, nothing to add here
