Lambros - eBay?

Hey guys... I'm thinking of selling my Lambros. I have checked eBay for months, and never see any auctions for his stuff. Why is that? I'd like to know approximately what they are selling for these days.

Is there any reason his cues are never on eBay? Is there somewhere else I should be looking? I've checked the billiard warehouse, and saw some good comparisons, but I was wondering if there might be an auction site with his stuff? Anyone can put up any price on a retail site, but an auction site will let me know at what price people are buying.

Thanks for any help you can offer!

Lambros Prices...

Hiya,

Lambros cues can sell anywhere between 450-600 (for one of his rare SPs), and up to 3-4 thousand for some of his pretty decorative stuff. All depends on the specs for yours, really. For your average, "run of the mill" lambros 4 or 6 pointer, I've seen 'em go for $900 - $1600, depending on the woods, inlays, number of shafts, age, etc., etc.

Give us a quick specs list on your cue, and I'm sure there are at least a dozen of the AZBers out there that can ballpark it for ya.

Steve, I think a lot of the Lambros cues get picked up without having to go through the trouble of putting them on eBay. Since a large amount of his production usually goes to Asia, his cues are not readily available and there is always someone around willing to buy. JMHO

I also have one, that I have put aside in favor of a Capone, but I'm not quite ready to let it go yet.

What are you replacing yours with? :D

Thanks for the informative replies, guys.

Rich, I have heard some truly high numbers for his cues lately (because of the Asia thing), and I guess that's why I wanted to check eBay - to see if there was any validity to it.

As to my cue... lol, this is so sad. I don't know anything about cues, but I will do my best. It's got cocobolo and ivory. 4 points. Leather wrap. Extra shaft. Someone told me it has his first ultra-joint, since he made it for me in 2000. But I really don't know.

It wouldn't be described as an overly fancy cue, but the points have some (ivory?) designs in them, as does the butt cap area. By no means is it a plain-looking cue.

As to what's next... I have no idea. I have some tournaments coming up, so I suppose I should wait for those. They'll both be over at the beginning of June. Then I will probably either go back to Schon, or maybe even Meucci. Laugh if you will ( :) ) but the first cue I ever owned was a purple Meucci and I loved that freaking thing, lol.

Will try to post some tonight. They might be taken with a camera phone, so the quality might not be so hot.

Thanks!

I'm certainly no expert in pricing cues. Also, without knowing exactly how many ivory inlays and the condition of the cue, it is hard to price. However, I would venture a guess that you have something that is currently worth at least between $2K and $3K, and possibly more.

IMHO, I would look around and decide on a new cue, before you let it go. You may like it more than you think. :D

DID YOU SAY MEUCCI????????

To be fair, I would be surprised if it hit the upper bounds of what you mentioned. Again, it's not plain, but it's not that fancy. But that's the reason I wanted to see the auctions... is there any way on eBay to check past auctions?

Anyway, I will try to post some low-res pics tonight.

And to Barb and Rich - make fun of me all you want :D. All I remember is loving that cue. I mean, the entire butt was purple. What's not to love? Anyway, I'm going to try and find a Meucci tonight to take a few shots with; if they hit the way I remember, I'm buying one lol.

I also have a Lambros that I am thinking about selling. It has 4 rosewood points, birdseye maple forearm, rosewood buttsleeve, white (delrin) buttcap and joint, ultra joint, 2 shafts, 5 set of rings, and a leather wrap. If anyone has a estimate on the price or is interested in the cue let me know. Send me a PM. Thanx

thaks sorry to hear u'r going to a muecci..

Yeah i believe he said Meucci. Also i'll second that comment. I too also grew up shooting with a Meucci. Honestly if it wasnt for the way i felt when shooting with that cue. I myself probably would have given up on the sport a long time ago. Actually still have that MO-6 and now its retired. Have invested in several other older Meucci cues since then. Really only have the Meucci Originals and have only owned those. So i cant speak much for any of the newer ones. Next to the meucci's u can see some Tascarellas, Blackcreeks, early SouthWests, Schick, Gilbert and Scruggs. My playing cue now days is just an old SP made by Mike Johnson. Yeah i know alot of people laught at that too, LoL. but of all my cues i bring to the bar and the pool hall. I'd rather see that Jensen SP wonder off that any of them, LMAO. Much easier to replace that POS than any of my others........=-)

Damn... don't think I will be able to get the pics tonight. I'll get them tomorrow.

Thanks again, everyone.

Pics

Hi everyone. Here are some pics. Also, I've been told the darker wood is not cocobolo. Any ideas? There's unfortunately a glare in the pics... sorry.

Thanks!

It' really difficult to tell from the pics, but the wood has grain similar to that found in Indian rosewood.......but it, at least on my monitor, almost has the tint of a dark purpleheart.....but my guess is Indian rosewood. But what do I know?

Lisa

Thanks Lisa. I want to say it's purple heart. Last night, while discussing it, I mentioned that I remembered the word "purple" in the type of wood, and now you say this. So... it's a good bet. Thanks!

Of course I remember you, Cosmo! We came down with Sharon. I loved playing in your place, and am happy to hear you opened a new room.

I will keep the number and if I can find some time to get down there, I'll absolutely give you a call. It was great playing with you too!

The best of luck to you with the room, Cosmo!
