Laminated tips

Hey Mike, Dont you have a layered tip? I saw on your website, it says 'Webb Layered', did you make that yourself? or was it a coincidence? How many layers does it have, what type of leather is it?

It was put on the back burner due to family and work obligations. Doesn't really matter though, My choice is still moori, triangle, blue diamond then Tiger dynamite. I'm still getting a feel for the wizards, if the mediums were a little softer I would like them better. For breaking, I liked the Hercules hard and moori because of the transfer of energy I got with them, phenolic and tips like it have their place just not in my eyes, I like leather. If you have to jump, full cue only or learn to kick. Just my opinion.

I tried an Everest and I really like it. It's a little softer than the LePros and Triangles that I had always played with before but it is really "sticky" on the cue ball and it's almost impossible to miscue with it. I tend to Miscue every now and then with the LePros and Triangles when they get older and glaze over, you can never seem to scuff them enough. The Everest needs a little more muscle in the stroke to shoot hard with but I don't notice much accuracy loss. The tip works great for playing 14.1 where you are playing tight position a lot.

I tried an ElkMaster as an experiment. The tip gives great spin and cue ball control but I was rattling long shots and anything that needed any power left and right...no accuracy with that tip. I also tried a Talisman medium and I like it, it plays a lot like the Everest. I tried a Sumo once for normal playing and I liked it but the tip is so hard that it's difficult to hit the ball softly enough on some shots. Now that I've tried them I think that I'm sold on these layered tips.

What size diameter tip do you prefer? dime or nickel? what are plusses vs. negatives?

Lots of versatility there, I see a lot of players using a little less crown on the layered tips, I myself prefer it that way also, When I put tips on, I usually ask as a standard what they like for a crown.

I like the radius to be a little less than a nickel. That way I limit the amount of english I create from the tip alone, and rely more on my stroke for english.

Rodney---not sure if I said that right
