I know that word doesn't mean much to most of you. "lagniappe" actually comes from a Louisiana French (or Creole) word, itself derived from the Spanish "la napa," or "the gift." Originally it meant a small token of appreciation traditionally given by a New Orleans merchant to his faithful customers -- an extra cookie, a free lunch, or the like. Lagniappes came to national attention during the reign (and it was indeed a "reign") of Louisiana Governor Huey Long, who expanded the concept of "lagniappe" to include political favors and routine official corruption. To me, growing up here in South Louisiana, the word lagniappe, has always simply meant, "something extra".
I'm tired of having to check different forums for those threads that interest my. My interests and tastes run the gamut and I found that as more and more forums are added, I find myself less likely to spend time on AZ Billiards, even in the Main Forum.
I often scan the Main Forum for threads that might be of interest to me and if I don't see any, I simply exit out. Occasionally, I will visit another forum like the Tournament Announcement forum but that's about it. I guess I find it easier to scan a few pages of threads in one forum than I do in multiple forums.
Anyway, I was wondering if we could have a LAGNIAPPE FORUM where any thread would be welcome just as long as it didn't violate forum rules, or pertain to religion or politics.
Does anyone think we need another forum or should we just put a moratorium on all future forums?
Maybe there is room for just one more. :smile:
