I guess Hybler beat Chao then...here are my predictions for the round of sixteen:

(winners)

Kuo
Huang
Chang (although I'm rooting for Rodney, pronounced "Rot-neeee")
Foldes
Chamat (he's gotta be playing lights out, huh?)
Hohmann (sorry double J)
Manalo (gotta be a favorite to win it all)
Deuel (tough call on this one, maybe a letdown for Mika after that incredible comeback win)

Chamat really seems to have turned it on now, i would really like to see him win it, though after today Manalo has got to be a big favorite.

Yes, Marlon is a great player who's playing great. But a big favorite to win it all? How can that be when Hohmann beat Manalo into submission at the BCA Open? Hohmann led 9 - 2 on the way to a blowout win over Manalo in Las Vegas. If I were a fan of Manalo, which I'm not, I'd sure be hoping he doesn't have to play Thorsten Hohmann, the 2003 WPC cahmpion, 2004 US Open runner-up, and 2005 BCA Open champion.

To be honest, the last sixteen is so tough that there is no big favorite.

Ok maybe big favorite where the wrong words to use,but after todays nearly faultless match i can see a lot of money getting dumped on him. There are no easy games in the last 16, i honestly think that the winner between Mika and Cory might well win it. I'd be more than happy seeing Hohmann win. :) (vbookie)

If I were Manalo, I'd rather not be called a favorite. So far, all the favorites have been discarded like used tissue paper. Ugh!

Forgive my ignorance, but who on earth is Nguyen? Has anyone heard of him and has he accomplished anything in the world of pool prior to the 2005 WPC? This guy has been absolutely sensational. The WPC always brings at least one extremely obscure player into the spotlight on pool's very biggest stage. Anything more from Nguyen in this WPC would be simply amazing!

Sadly I just figured out this year how to pronounce that name. He is defintely putting on a show.

My pick is a toss up between Hohmann and Manalo. Flip a coin.

Koop - pronounced "WIN"

I hope that Deuel,Immonen,Jones,Hohmann,Chamat,Vanderburg or Morris make the final and that they are preferrably playing someone from Taiwan.I would also like to see someone new win it so Hohmann and Immonen would be secondary choices on the above list.
I say this not from a racist prespective, but rather from the fact that I am very familiar with these players and much less familiar with the players from Taiwan.

I think for me it would be less attractive if there were say 4(especially relativily unknown) Taiwan players in the final four.I think that scenario would make things really bland. For me there needs to be that hometown favorite against an outside intruder. That hero vs villian thing can definitly make things more exciting. If all the Taiwan players are eliminated before the finals or semi's, I think the tournament also can lose some flavour,(particuliarliy for the locals) as well. They are absolutley dying to see a player from Taiwan crowned champion on their soil. They are waiting to crown a King.

I was really hoping for Alex last year against Chang. He had his fans for sure, however, the crowd there was estatic when he was down 10-4 and they could smell blood. They actually cheered loudly(Chao hill-hill match especially) at times with his misses. It's something we are not accustomed to in North America as we try to show etiquite for players from all nations. The more they cheered, the more I wanted Alex to win.Because they are against great great players from Taiwan and their boisterious fans,it makes me side with the outsider underdog for sure.

The perfect scenario:

Someone from Taiwan against someone from America or Europe in the final.JMO....RJ

It kinda reminds me of when Hohmann came out of nowhere to shock the pool world in the 2003 WPC.

My odds are only one outta 16, however,I have this feeling Hohmann is going to do it again (and go on to be a future Hall of Famer) as I only see him getting better and better.RJ

With the way things are going, I think Taiwan is assured that at least one of their countrymen would reach the finals against Hohmann.

Ok, I did. Now you tell me, who is heads and who is tails, then I will tell you who wins.
