lathe bed

I have been thinking about upgrading this little machine what do you guys think? I am going to box in the under side and maybe connect a dust collection device or maybe even a small 1hp shop vac to it that is wired into the motor somehow. Also I am goint to leave the board in one peice for better accuracy. I have also though about planning the bottoms of the cross slide hardwear 1/4 inch so that I can put 1/4" hardend steel or aluminum bedways in for improve accuracy and durability. Some modifacation will need to be done to make it all work but in the end it will be better and more deversital.

Bug! Am I missing something here? It sounds like a good idea boxing in that machine but what machine are you referring to to enclose?
