Whenever a client walks into my shop to get a repair done while they wait, they don't notice my jet lathe, milling machine setup for points, atlas lathe setup for tapering, or any other machine I have. They notice how I modded the router on my repair lathe when cutting the excess off ferrules. It keeps my shirt from being sucked in the back!!

Sweet!!!!!!!!

I love stuff like this....Great idea. I use a plastic soda bottle to catch wood chips coming off the router.....Do you have any more? I just moded my Hightower inlay machine with a tube to blow air while I'm cutting...... Keeps everthing clean......Thanks for shareing Ray Weeks

Do the Dew!

Oh, also one dumb idea that I am sure you guys all thought of already, but after having the on/off switch die on 2 routers, I started leaving them in the on position and plugging them into a power strip mounted on top of my lathe (a large floor model, obviously). I figured it was easier to replace a 4 dollar power strip instead of messing with a 90 dollar router. Also, I think it is a bit safer, because I turn things on/off away from the moving parts and I always have a visual indicator (the red light from the power strip) to remind me the router is on when I have my headphones on.

I am sure this is obvious or not even applicable to the folks that have been in the business for a while, but I hope it might be a tidbit of useful advice for fellow newbies like myself. :)
