Ok. This may sound funny to you guys that have been building cues for a while, but im just starting out with repairs and such, so give me a break. LOL!:D

I have come across a 14 x 40 lathe that I would need to put a chuck on.

I have a Pratt Burnerd KC-20 collet chuck with a D1-6 spindle size, but the spindle nose on the lathe is D1-5 (6pin).

I guess my question is what is the significance of the last digit in the sizes (5,6) and would I be able to put that chuck on that lathe easily or would I need some kind of an adapter plate.

Thanks for any help.

Mike

D1-4, D1-5 and D1-6 are are all different types of cam lock designs, with variations in pin sizes and configurations (iirc). One should be able to buy an adaptor or even the correct D-series mount if the old one is removeable. I'm sure Pratt Burnerd could give you more info.
