My first thought would be, sure it runs cooler, but the air compresser at 4CFM won't run very cool if you use it for cutting a shaft or anything more than 1 minute. Not to mention your electric bill at the end of the month. If used for very short bursts of time, it may be useful. I recommend an electric laminate trimmer or a router. Much cheaper, at $100, than this item, and more useable. Just my 2.25 cents.:D

air tools are nice

They run cool, and often have a lot of torque. BUT, they need oil mist in the air to stay working, and that oil often will permeate what you are cutting with it. A definite problem if you want to work on wood. ANd they are even noisier than an electric router, you get noise from the tool and noise from the compressor. If you have larger compressor it may work ok, but a small one will run a lot and start to heat up and build up moisture in the air supply, this then causes more problems and contamination. I use an air die grinder, which is what that tool really is I think, for cutting off pins and grooving threaded pins for glue reliefs, but not precision work. The spindles often have way too much free play for exacting cue work.

does the air cutter exhaust from the front or rear ? the kind I buy comes either way and costs 1/10 of that contraption . make your own bracket and buy air die grinders (that's what the item you pictured actually is) from www.harborfreight.com for $10 or less on sale . when they wear out (lose tolerances), sell them to your auto mechanic and get your money back . :p

plus some come with 1/8" and 1/4" collets and occasionally come with a jacobs chuck on them,,,,,,really versatile......JMHO

and now I wait for the experts to debunk my post...lol
