Are there any decent rooms within a few miles of LAX airport? Dealing with flight delays and looking for cheap action...

How long do you have? Your best bet is The House of Billiards in Santa Monica, but is about a half hour away.

House of Billiards on 1901 Wilshire Blvd in Santa Monica and Mr Lucky's on 21020 Hawthorne Blvd in Torrance are both about 10 miles away from LAX. Those are both serious rooms with professionally set up Gold Crowns with Simonis cloth.

Mr Pockets on 516 N Sepulveda Blvd in Manhattan Beach is only about 5 miles away. Please note that I haven't been to Mr Pockets in about 20 years. It was much more of a sports bar with tables then and I suspect it remains as much today.

Good luck chasing that dragon,

Thanks guys. Change of plan...flight just got moved up 6 hours back to scheduled time (that's a first).

I lived in MB for a while. I remember going to Mr Pockets a couple of times to have a bite with the family and shot a few games. Iirc, it was something like $15/hr at peak times.. about 15+ years ago, maybe 20. Don't even want to know how much it is nowadays. Then again, HoB is up around $20, isn't it? I'm in hog heaven with 25c barboxes.. currently working on plans to upgrade to Diamonds.

HOB recently raised their rates to pretty close to $20/hr on Friday and Saturday nights with 2+ players. As ridiculous as that rate might be, pretty much every serious pool player from Downtown LA out to the coast is stuck having to go to HOB because there ain't no other nice rooms in the area.

There's a pretty decent pool hall real close to LAX that Jay H steered me too when I was last in town a few years ago. I don't know what it cost - might have been free for me since I name dropped Jay. But surely wasn't $20/hr. It's in Torrance. I forget the name of it. Probably more good one pocket players there than anything. But it won't be HOB caliber.

Maybe had 10 GC's and was very welcoming. Jay knows the scenery, perhaps he will chime in too.

That's it! Mr. Lucky's is in a strip center on a very busy road/intersection. They give you a patch of cloth to break off of if you're hard breaking.

Just down the street from me; see my name handle :) Chad, the owner, is one cool guy, and he cares about the players and the equipment. And they have a bar too and some 3 or 4 bar tables.
