LD shaft vs old school... how long did it take you to adjust??

This has probably been beat to death..... but was just curious as to how everyone made the adjustment (I'm guessing play time is the real answer). How long did it take you to adjust. I have gone back and forth several time and always end up playing w/ my Pierce made old school shaft vs my OB shaft when it counts.... not that I don't play well with the OB but feel I miss a few of the longer shots that I throw side spin on with the OB due to myself making the same automatic adjustment in my subconscience that I would with my old maple shaft. I could use some advise on making the change or maybe I should just put the LD shaft away and stick with the old school shaft.

This may sound really simplistic BUT: on long distance spin shots which are you better with? Reason i ask is it doesn't make much difference on no spin and short spinners. On higher speed and longer spin shots whichever works for YOU is what you outta use. My $.02, nothing more.

If I actually AIM and mean consciencely aim.... The LD shaft is actually probably more accurate but I have been playing with a maple shaft for 30+ years and mostly make up the difference for squirt subconsciencely. So when just playing normal without actually consciencely aiming (do you know what I mean) I miss with the LD shaft shots that I normally would make with the old school shaft.

Listen to this tar podcast, John says it's about 2 years or so - >

This is the best podcast from tar and both John / Corey talks about a lot of stuff like aiming systems, deflections, league play, drills, stroke .. IMO, must watch for some one who loves pool and wana hear what pro's have to say.

P.S - I switched from LD to maple .. took me about 3 - 4 months to adjust. But, I am not a good player so for me it doesn't really matter what shaft I play with.

I have a 30" OB Classic original shaft that I finally gave up on. It actually measures 30 and 3/8". That extra 1 and 3/8" makes the difference of having to use an extension or not on too many shots to not use it. So I sanded a Pro Taper on it to my liking and sanded the ferule down to 12.5mm and it is my favorite shaft now. Just the right amount of deflection for me.

Good video

I've sold the dozens of LD shafts I've picked up in cue deals over the years except the Jacoby hybrid made for Schon, which took no adjustment time.
Also a Tiger Ultra LD radial I keep because it works as a good second shaft for a radial pin cue I have.
I wouldn't use one that takes that much adjusting to, may as well use the original shaft.

I got together with friends recently and they supplied the cues. I played about 3 hrs with an LD and could not deviate from center at all...and I rarely use middle axis, so it was an eye opener.

So...more than 3hrs is my answer!
