League Night

Just curious how yall or doing in yalls league. We are currently undefeated after 8 weeks. I play in a new league formed I guess about 3 or 4 years ago its called SLAPP for South Louisiana Association of Pool Players. Its a fun league. Im am not sure how the averages of APA or BCA or any other league work (never play in any league before this) but, our go like this.

Averages based on how many points scored a night.

Ex (eight ball league)

8 ball = 2 point and 1 point for every ball loser has left on table

So a 27 average it the most one can be.

With that said the highest in our division is a 11. I think with the competion we play against that a high average.

So far, my team is undeafeted after 3 weeks. It's my first time playing on this team and there are some good players on this team so I was pretty nervous, but I've still been doing ok. In our league, you get 10 points for a win, and the loser gets 1 point for every ball made. So a perfect score is 50. My average was 43 at the end of last season, and I've kept that 43 so far these past few weeks. I hope it doesn't go down too much.

Currently I'm only on one team at the moment. I walked into the pool hall about 7 weeks ago and the manager there says :" just the person I wanted to see......"

I hadn't planned on playing league for the summer, but this team had had 3 people quit on them halfway through the season and since the league was new(it's first season) the loss of 1 team would have been a disaster.

So I agreed to play... they work on the 10 points for a win, 1 point per ball for the loser system. Currently with about 2 weeks to go we are tied for 1st and playing great, especially since the team was near the bottom when I joined. My average right now is 8.35. I'm putting together a new team with my brother for the fall in this league.

In addition, we just had our team meeting last night for the fall session of wal-mac (Valley) This will be my first time in this league, prior to this I played on 2 teams in a BCA type league. Once again, I'm going to be busy. Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I play on two teams.

My APA team is doing phenomenal this summer. Going into the last week (14 weeks played) we've got 51 match wins out of 70. We've had two 5-0 sweeps in a row! We play the team run by the asst. league operator for our area on Thursday, so I expect to hear some handicap-related grumbling out of him (as usual). :D

I joined a Valley team this summer as well. I'm probably an 8 after the last week we played (had a bye this past week). We've generally been doing pretty well - except for one horrid week (the week I sat! har), we've been taking 3 out of 4 rounds and generally getting 10-20 points over the other team. Thanks to the aforementioned bad week, we're a distant second (out of five teams) over the top team (the team our team played that bad week). The last two weeks we play, we should do well - playing teams we've already beat on reasonably strongly.

i ain't doing to good myself, as the leagues didn't start up yet here. In September they do i think. I have been in the same league for three years, the first year i quit the team due to my girlfriend, and the team took second place. The second year different team and we went 2 and out LOL, and the third year we won it. For the last two years i was the top shooter outta 15 teams. But the points and averages go like this, a point for each ball but the eightball is 3 points. So each round the highest you can get is a 10 = 40 points, and the highest average is a 10 the lowest is a 7.0

Funny you should ask, I play in 2 unhandicapped leagues in the same place. Last night we had playoffs in the second of the two. My team one, we also won 1st overall during the regular season, and I had the 3rd best percentage in the league. In our Tuesday league (softer league), my team also took 1st overall for the regular season, won the playoffs, and I was top shooter for that league.
All and all a successful summer, I'll pick-up 6 trophys at the banquet; I've never done that before.
I'll see what happens this fall when some of the better shooters who've been out on the softball diamonds and golf courses for the summer come back.
Cats. <== a tired, but content poolplayer this morning.
