League schedule help needed

I need a schedule for a 13 team league and also a 14 team league schedule.

Both schedules need each team to play each other twice during the schedule.
Once at home and once an away match. Preferable separating the matches between a first half and a second half of the season.

Excel spreadsheet would work best but I will take whatever format that you have available.

You can email me at kevinlindstrom@msn.com

Thanks to anyone who can help.

Bear in mind that in a 13 team league/night, there will only be 24 matches (12 opponents for each team x playing each team twice).

Or run a search engine for "season schedules"

Even if it's for a softball, hockey, or dart league, the same formula will apply.

Good luck........

I also forgot to mention this information must also be taken into account.

I need to come up with a schedule for a 14 team league for our club league pool season. Here is my scenario. We have 6 clubs that each have 2 teams each and 2 clubs with only 1 team each. I want to make it so that the clubs with 2 teams are not scheduled to play home games or away games at the same time, meaning I can't have the 2 teams from the same club at home on the same night unless they are playing each other. In addition I would like it so that any certain team is not scheduled for more than 2 weeks in a row at home or away. I hope this explination is understandable and that someone can provide a link or an excel spreadsheet for what I need. I am desperate as the league starts soon. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Wow. Ok.....

I'll assume that each club only has one table ?

The only caveat to this scenario is that you may have to manually manipulate some of the weeks. Physically looking at each week/team, and adjust accordingly. The best suggestion I can give for a 14 team league is to use a 13 week formula, then reverse the home/visiting teams for the remaining 13 weeks.
Ex : Week 1, team 1@2, 3@4, 5@6, etc. Week 14 would be team 2@1, 4@3, 6@5, etc.

Also bear in mind that you'll have some nights that Joe's Club Team 1 will play Joe's Club Team 2 at some point. And you have 6 clubs like this.
If you can get only one set of teams from the same club to play each other each week, then I think the rest will fall into place.
Ex : Week 1, Joe's Team 1 plays Joe's Team 2. Week 2, Tony's Team A plays Tony's Team B, etc.

You'll have to experiment with where to place each team on the schedule to get the right mix-up. Our old LO used to hate having to adjust the schedule because of your same situation. but he always seemed to make it work.
I'm going to dig through some of my old league schedules. Maybe I can find a similar one that might help you out.

It's probably not the answer you wanted to hear, but I don't know of a schedule/spreadsheet that can adjust to the specifics you need. Hopefully another member will be along to prove me wrong on that.

Someone with a bigger brain than mine had done this for me a few years back with a 12 team format. Our club league wants to add 2 more teams to two club that currently have 1 team each at that location. So in total we will have 6 clubs that will each have 2 teams and 2 clubs that will only have 1 team for a total of 14 teams. All of the clubs only have 1 table each.

The nice thing about the original 12 team schedule that was created for me (in excel) was that it had no conflicts with the 2 team clubs. One team (team 1) was at home while the other team (team 2) was at an away match. No team was at home or away more than 2 weeks in a row.

If I can get this especially in excel I can use it from one year to the next and just change the dates.

LOL I know what you mean. As for me, I've never been in contention to be a MENSA member :D

I used to work with a guy that could do magic with Excel. Some of the stuff he could do on a computer would make my head spin.

If you have the old 12 team Excel spreadsheet, you should make it available for download somewhere. Then maybe we can take a look and expand it to work for 14 teams.

I'm not an an Excel expert, but I can usually figure them out given time. Others may be able to assist also.

Here is the excel spreadsheet for the 12 team format if someone want to use this as starting point to create the 14 team version.

Not sure how to insert the excel spreadsheet but I could certainly email it to anyone who could possibly help.

I would use the posted link and download the spreadsheet provided. Looks like a lot of work went into that!

In Excel, your macros are most likely already enabled. If not, you can just type "ENABLE MACROS" in the help search and it will give you instructions on how to do it. If you can't figure it out, let me know.

From the subsequent posts in the provided link, it looks like you can increase the number of teams by clicking on the "spin" button in the upper LEFT corner (has a number in it). Click up arrow to increase number of teams.

Upper left corner instead of upper right corner.

I am not a mental giant. How do I enable macros? Are there intructions on how to do this for a 14 team format?

Thanks

Can anyone modify my 12 team schedule that is in excel format to a 14 team schedule and save me some hassles? I can email the excel file if you can do what I need.

Thanks

Kevin

The BCA website has formats for 8, 10, 12 and more team schedules available for download or print.
For a 13 team schedule, you can simply modify the 14 or 16 to include byes.

Do you have a link directly to the page as I can not find it on the BCA website.

Thanks
