One of the locals in DC, who plays real strong, always reminds me, "you've got to make sure the other guy knows that you're going to shoot at your pocket." It's good advice. This doesn't mean you should go nuts and fire into the stack all the time, but you've got to be aggressive enough to put a little fear into your opponent on every shot (or as close to that as you can come).
