I accept being dinged.

I have never played with a leather wrapped cue, but lately I find myself in a position where I may be somehow a collector.
Someone here on AZ is shedding his collection and some of his final pieces it seems fit what I would look for.
That being the History of cue building. Love History of everything.

Anyway, like I've said, I don't know about Leather.

Should I treat it with something? Or just let it alone?

I may want to start playing with this cue for a few years or maybe for ever.
That's where the question comes from.

Is there any general accepted care for leather?

Send the cue to Ned Morris. Search for him on Facebook. He's the best.

Generally the leather wrap don't need much in terms of conditioning because it's so thin and glued to a surface which doesn't flex. The the oils from your hands will keep it "conditioned" through regular play.

However I typically will condition my leather wraps once a year with some type of basic leather conditioner that will not darken the leather wrap. There are tons of products out there but a cheap readily available one is fiebings leather lotion. I do this purely to keep it soft and clean.

Ok so the wrap shows evidence of use. Duh. It was the main player of the seller for years.

I'm OK with the LOOK, but if I'm going to transition to this one, do I do anything?? or not worry about it?
If I'm extremely lucky, I'll swing a cue for maybe 15 more years. If Lucky.

Pimping again for Ned? Does he know your trashing name?
I do not understand your problem. Ned is the cue maker pool players send their cues to for leather wraps. What the hell is wrong with you? He does a fantastic job. if you can do the leather wrap for cues, let it be known.

My problem is your like a parrot that know two works Ned Morris🤪

Gets old, and I have no recommendation for leather wrap.

If I knew where guys asking question reside I might, but he did not state I live near or in.

You are in every darn post in this forum. What the hell do you know about anything? I know a great cue maker and will recommend his work for everyone that needs his work. He is so damn busy he doesn't need this or any other work, but many pool players have stated that they wanted leather wrap repair and Ned does a great job. I announce that news and what the hell is wrong with that?

I might be one of the lucky ones. My cue is 28 years old. I put lizard on when I built it. I've never done anything to it but my hands don't sweat.

This is what I use for my lizard wraps (real not embossed). It's a specific cream for reptile leather, but the instructions say its good for shark and stingray too.

Go with black and you can touch it up and shine it just like I e leather shoes.

Evan Clarke, who built hundreds of cues for Schon, recommends Kiwi wax shoe polish for occasionally treating leather wraps. This is what I use if I feel a leather wrap needs a little touch up. Normally I can play for months at a time with nothing more than wiping down the wrap with a soft cloth.
