Of the more unconventional grips that I have shot with -- hard rubber on a Brunswick Vulcanite, cork on some old Brunswicks, carved wood on Riepers and Sampaios, anodized aluminum and fiberglass on some early 1960's junkers, woven silk on an Eisenmeister -- I most appreciate the checkered wood on the old Brunswick 26, and, to a lesser degree, the related fluted, hammered, etc. versions. The checkered grips shoot well on my Colt, too.
