My local 'hall recently installed LED tubes in a Diamond light. Its one of the older full size units. Plenty of light but there are now table-length 'stripe' shadows on the cloth. Do LED's require a different diffuser? The others still have fluorescent tubes and there are no such issues. TIA for any input.

I think i found my answer. They used clear tubes instead of frosted. Clear will cause the 'tiger stripes'.

That is the answer. Happened to me.
Me too... frosted is probably the best solution, though I bought some semi opaque panels at Home Depot and put them on top of the egg crate diffuser and that worked too, I was just not happy with the amount of lost light. Ended up skipping LED and going with some high CRI fluorescents (frosted) that I'm happy with.

Played a tournament yesterday, one of the tables has the big full table square led light above the table, led is the way to go, amazing light.
