From a players perspective I enjoy commentary done by experts of the game (a Grady, Billy, Freddy or John) more than the commentators of, for example, the world 9-ball championships or the CoC.
I can only praise the iniative of more and more pro's taking on commentary and spreading the knowledge of pool we all love so much.
