lepro tip dried out, hits different?

I always use lepro tips, this one that i had put on seems unbelieveably hard and dried out and because of it i think it shoots more like a triangle, is this all just in my head or could it be the tip. thanks
 
Most times I trash over half the box of LePro's. Very hard to get two alike. And QC on them & Triangles has slipped a lot lately. If yours is dry rotted cut it off & start over.

Yeah the quality control as varney has stated has gotten a lot worse over the years. Out of a box of 50 lepro's you may find 10-25 that you like.

You could press them, or you could just go for a better tip.

I personally still shoot with an elkmaster but always have Ben Tubbs pick me out a good one. Just my 2 cents.
 
Question: If the consistancy of LePro's quality is so poor, why do so many cuemakers still use them as their standard tip?

They are being cheap...period!!! :D Too many quality tips available...of course they are not $12 per 50. You'll never see a new Varney with a Lepro...unless its requested by the customer. I prefer to use a quality tip...Sniper, Kamui, Moori, Everest, are the ones I use most.
I'm not saying a good Lepro doesn't play well, some love them. I just prefer the quality & consistency of a premium tip.;)

I've used La Pro 15 or 16 yrs had to give up on them. Went with Sniper
they are consistent. It takes about 2 wks. to get used to them. Hold chalk
well an they take misque out of your game.

A good Le Pro is an excellent tip. The problem, as others have stated, is finding a good one. Fifteen years ago, I used nothing but Le Pro, that is, until I discovered Triangle.

The Triangle is a vastly superior tip to the Le Pro, even a good one. It holds chalk better, holds its shape as well as the best Le Pro, has better feel, and much better consistency. I don't go through as many as the cuemakers, but I have never had a bad Triangle tip--not one--so I certainly can't affirm anyone's view that Triangles are inconsistent.

In recent years I've gone to layered tips, but I still keep Triangles on a few shafts and still play with them regularly. Funny thing is, everytime I shoot with a Triangle, I begin to wonder the logic of paying 10-20x more for a layered tip ...
