So I was skeptical at first of taking lessons. I always want to improve but when I hear about other people taking lessons I listen to what the instructors telling the other person. Always seems to be the fundamentals and I think my fundamentals are pretty good.

So I started taking lessons a few weeks ago. Start out with nailing 20 long straight-in's on a 9' table with my natual stroke (medium speed). Then being video taped from 3 angles he has me shoot the same shot with 3 different strokes and I learned more from that than I have learned this past couple years (in less than 20 minutes). Being skeptical was gone and I was interested.

Working on a few other things we moved up to some harder drills and more challenging for me. The end of the first lesson he asks what stuff I'd like to work on and sure enought by the next time I came in he had a bunch of drills and practice sessions setup for those specific areas of my game. With correct practice and instruction I'm seeing great improvement and learning more and more. My confidence is at an all time high and I'm even more excited to go back to the next lesson.

The facility is great, smoke-free, no bar, no music. Just you and the tables. A knowledgeable instructor and all the training aides you can think of.

If you're in the atlanta area check it out.

Nice. I hope this school can start a nice trend.
Keep up the good work on your game.

I checked out their website a while back and it looks like they have a great setup. I hope they are very successful with their school.

This is great, the guys over there have put in a lot of hard work to get this off the ground and really want to help people with their game. Good luck to Chris and the guys at GBA.

I have been playing pool for almost 7 years now. I have read countless books, watched countless video's and play several nights a weeks. I go through hot streaks and slumps like everyone else. I try to really study the game and throughout my improving I hit Plateaus and get in somewhat of a rut. Typically it takes stepping back and viewing something different or a break for a couple weeks then come back even harder to rise above this plateau.

I have been shooting the same for a while now but the GBA is lifting my game up leaps and bounds. It is also boosting my confidence greatly. I'm always excited about anything pool but after talking to friends, teammates and fellow pool players about GBA they see the excitement and it intrigues them. I encourage everyone who wants to step their game up to seek lessons. If you are a beginner you need a strong foundation (fundamentals) to build your game on. If you are an intermediate player you can fix flaws in your fundamentals and work on strategy. If you are a more advanced player you can strengthen your weaker areas of your game. Basically anyone can learn something new and EVERYONE has room to improve.

Not everyone is so fortunate to get good instruction. I witnessed some 'intriging' instruction in Nashua, NH back in '95. The Monk Billiard Academy had some of their flunkies teaching lessons. I watched the same student follow the same instructions exactly 5 or 6 times in a row and get the same wrong results 5 or 6 times in a row. The instructor had no idea why. They weren't taught basic information. It was a travesty how he took their money and taught them bad fundamentals.
