Lessons in Cincinnati?

John Scalf used to be a BCA instructor. He could help you.

Better yet, catch traveling instructor Scott Lee the next time he's in the area.

Have you taken any lessons from Tom Simpson

Yes, I have both taken both group and individual lessons from Tom. He is certainly a very competent instructor.

Like most instructors, Tom is big on improving the fundamentals. A good place to start is with one of his three day group clinics. They cover pretty much everything from your bridge to position play and everything in between. They give you a lot of information to work on and think about.

I last took one of his clinics several years ago. Going into the clinic I thought I had pretty a good stroke. During the clinic, Tom pointed out a couple parts of my stroke that I needed to work on and some suggestions on what I can do to make the improvement. I also walked out with a much better understanding of how the balls react – of the path balls take after a collision. Tom has told me that he has added a good bit to the clinics and has changed the way he teaches some things. I do plan to retake one of his clinics sometime in the next couple of months.

I also took a couple of private lessons to focus on cue control and pattern play. My position play is bad because of speed control. He gave me several methods I could use to help with speed control. More importantly, he pointed out that my problems with speed control are compounded by my poor pattern selection. I had gotten in a rut with my shot selection; I was not considering all the possibilities and choosing patterns that minimized the need to pinpoint position play.

Anyhow, I would suggest taking a clinic and see what you think.
