and who are you to say that? do you know him? have you talked to him longer than 5 minutes?

i don't think you possess the ability to play pool worth a shit based on your comment.....

Having recently met Earl whilst playing in the APN event in march I must say that he was one of the nicest people I have ever spoken to in the game.

Compared to people who have a 1% of his ability he is approachable and fun to chat with about any subject even outside of pool. I would say anyone who takes lessons from him would be very fortunite and make to most of an excellent opportunity to learn from one of the very very best of ALL TIME!!

And as for doing damage to the game...lol...that is a laughable comment...if our great sport ever really takes off then it will be because of people like Earl...he is one of only a handful of players that people will pay to watch again and again and again...and thats not just because of the entertainment value around the table but also because they no that he consistantly plays pool of the very highest quality....

Hear, hear, Heckler! :) The very fact that Earl Strickland will be on site at The Orlando Open at Disney, August 3-7, providing hands-on instruction complements the whole event (IMO).

One thing for sure, pool is sacred to some, and for very good reason, and to others, it's nothing more than a spitting cup.

I wish I had a macro to type in "Six-Time World Champion and Five-Time U.S. Open Winner" for every time Earl Strickland's name is mentioned, but it is well known what his accomplishments are as an American pool player. To demean his good name as well as his straight-shooting capabilities in the form of helping others in the sport is a damn shame. JMHO, FWIW!

No doubt JAM and hopefully he will be available at the Turning Stone in August. I, for one, would not pass up on the opportunity even if it's only an hour session.

DDKoop, I have heard it from somebody in the know that Earl "The Pearl" Strickland is going to be competing at the Turning Stone Casino for the Joss Northeast 9-Ball Tour Season Finale, August 18-21, 2005, in Verona, NY, along with Kim Davenport and Johnny Archer. :)

That Earl does get around, Taiwan in July for the WPC, Disney at Florida in early August, Turning Stone Casino in New York in mid August, and then the U.S. Open at Chesapeake Beach, VA in September.

Thanks JAM. I have heard the same and was hoping that although he will be competing, there may be some time for a quick lesson.

See you there in August.

Seeing Earl

I am so looking forward to seeing Earl at the Orlando event. He has always been real nice to me. I know that some of the players I run across in my Amateur 9-Ball Tours have stated they have taken lessons from him. I welcome his students any time he wants to send them to me.

I have played many events which Earl has attended, and anyone who posts anything negative about his teaching ability is uninformed. And to add, when he is not involved in a match, he is one of the nicest and most social people to be around. Countless times I have seen people go up to him while he was practicing or sitting around at an event. He never fails to give everyone his full attention and offers any instruction that is asked of him.

I'll admit that Earl's antics on the table sometimes leave something to be desired, but when not in competition, he has always gone out of his way to be a good ambassador to pool.

Well, I just called him and left my number. If he is going to be available at the Turning Stone there is no way I am going to pass up on the opportunity to take a lesson or two.

Earl has given lessons at several of my past events. From what I have heard from his students he was a wonderful teacher. He is patient and really works on your game. He had one particular student who booked 2 entire days of lessons with him. I am in contact with Earl on a daily basis for any questions you may have.

He is also available for golf lessons. Bob and Earl along with several others usually go out for a day of golf when they get together. This is a great time, and Disney has some of the best golf courses in the world.

Don't blame you there Koop. I will be in and out at the Orlando Open due to some other obligations but am looking forward to getting a chance to at least watch him. I have several players that play on my tour and that I sponsor that will be participating in the events and I plan on being their cheering squad. Looking forward to seeing everyone. Wish I could stay the whole week but promotions never end for the KBP Fury Amateur 9-Ball Tour. Try to catch up with me if you get a chance
