Lex Luther shoots pool in new Superman Movie

Well I just saw the movie( Don't worry you can keep reading I'm not revealing anything you don't get to see in first 10 minutes) at the sneek preview so I can fill you all in. In the movie Lex doesn't shoot pool, but one of his goons does. The pool table is in Lex's hideout which just happens to be a luxury yacht he gets when he cons a dying old woman to sign all of her possessions over to him.

I saw the movie too (and I agree with his review, first 2 hours were awesome, last 30 mins were weak), and I thought it was pretty funny that someone, anyone, would have a pool table on a boat. If you're playing on it don't complain about the rolls. They even had a scene where they were in a storm or something and they showed the table and the balls rolling back and forth as the boat rocked. An evil genius like Lex should be smarter about his accessories.

Well, Luthor "inherited" the yacht - the whole first scene with him spelled out him marrying an elderly rich woman, and biding his time till she croaked so he could get her fortune. (Incidentally that woman was played by Noel Neill, who was the actress who played Lois Lane in the old '50s tv series. The bartender in that bar scene was Jack Larson, who played Jimmy Olsen back in the day).

So it's not clear whether the yacht remained "as is" or Luthor refitted it. :P

Besides, I suspect the pool table was tossed in mainly to illustrate choppy-water scenes - i.e. the balls rolling back and forth.

I thought the movie was amazing - Singer did a great job of carrying forward Donner's (the director of the first two old movies) vision of the characters, and also taking the characters down some other paths. I'll definitely see it in again in the theaters before it goes away.

I agree, Singer was awesome. The whole plane crash sequence was fantastic. Too bad he couldn't have stuck around on X-men 3, his replacement ruined it.

We just got a new IMax theatre here in Des Moines (govt owned :( ) and I think it's showing there...that would be better than than hand-gliding on Everest, I'd think.

I had the distinct pleasure to meet the actor, Brandon, about 5 years ago at my neice's wedding---the couple are best friends of his (from college) and he's a nice guy. Doesn't party much, is honest, caring, a typical midwestern boy. The funny/horror part of the wedding was when my Mother-in-law missed the last step coming down the staircase at the reception and literally flew flat through the air and landed chest first on the floor, unscathed. After finding her OK, we joked that she looked like Superman when she was flying through the air. Who'd a thunk BJ would play the part?

Agreed. Though I still think X-Men 3 was pretty kick-ass - it didn't have quite that same feel to it like the first two. But I'll forgive Singer for skipping out to do Superman. :)

IMAX! Dang, I completely forgot about that... there's an IMAX theater in Denver that's showing the new Superman flick... THAT'S where I need to go see it again.

And while we're kinda on the subject of sequels... Singer's planning another Superman flick, with the same screenwriters! Woohoo :D

I thought the movie was pretty good. I think the first Superman was better though -- Christopher Reeve was a better Superman/Clark Kent, but this movie wasn't too shabby at all. Opening credits were awesome.

That dumb Lois Lane! If she had any sense, she should have played Luthor's henchman a game of pool while being held captive :-)

There are actually high end boats that do have pool tables on them that are self leveling! I wonder how well they work.
