Late last year Joe Van of classiccues.com sent me a few Palmers on approval, that I wanted, along with a Paradise that I didn't want. The Paradise had one of the six-stage wraps that was cool back when Cadillacs had fins, making it weird enough to be attractive, at least to me, so I kept it. Well, I bought it. Joe's a nice guy but not THAT nice.
It needed to be restored so I asked for volunteers who would want to actually wrap one of these things and Paul Drexler said he would do it but I had to pay him. I guess you have to pay for everything in this world. Who knew?
So I dropped it off at Paul's and it got in line with his more serious work and the other day, I ventured over into Marlborough country and retrieved it.
I still think the wrap is weird and only attractive in a period sort of way, but he did a great job including replacing the undersized ferrule with one the same diameter as the shaft and reassembling the rings of the plastic butt section in the correct order.
This is the only time I purchased a cue other than a Palmer, but the connection is valid.
