Push ups, not weight lifting.
I went through Ranger school, and I can tell you first hand that I could do push ups until the cows came home, but I had very little in terms of pure strength. 10 years later and a heavy training regement and being able to eat as much as I want, when I want and WOW!! what a difference. WAY STRONGER, and BIGGER, but can do only like 45-50 before I fall on my face.
Ok. I see where your coming from.
I am of the opinion that strength training and bulking up, are not as beneficial to ones game of pool, as much as conditioning.
YEEEAAAARRRS ago, I used to lift lots of weights and was very VERY strong, but my game stunk and I was never consistent in any way shape or form.
I was always lifting to see how strong i was, and straining my body parts all the time.
When i stopped caring about being strong, and started a program that would work more on my overall conditioning, my consistency improved immediately.
There might be a couple of people out there that lift so that they look like they are ready to compete in the WORLDS STRONGEST competitions who might actually play decent pool, if not top level pool, but i would be willing to guess that they are by far the minority.
Plus, lets not forget, that what might be strong for you or me, might not be what is strong for Charlie, Corey, and Mika. I have been in the gym when Mika was working out before, and i can tell you that he's not trying to get huge.
I would assume that it is that way for all of them, but that's just my opinion.
PLUS, strength is not always determined by size. Even though i am bigger and have more mass than Charlie, for all i know, he might be physically stronger than me, despite not being as big.
