Lightening a cue

Hey Guys,

Is it possible to lighten a cue that already has all the weight bolts removed? If so, is it worth the cost?

I've got a chance to buy an older Schon, but it's a little over 20oz and has no weight bolts in it. I'm looking at getting it under 19.

Thanks,

I'll be honest with you, I don't see a good way to do it without upsetting the integrity of the cue.
You might be thinking 'just bore-out the wght. bolt section in the butt'.
I don't think you'll get enough out to realize your desired wght.
Then that leaves the matter of what's holding the butt-cap on? Nothing but a face to face glue surface.
You can expect the butt-cap to fall off shortly thereafter.
BTW, you should never run a Schon without a wght. bolt.
It figures heavily in keeping the butt-cap intact.

The other option is at the front-end of the handle.
The SS jnt collar weighs 1 to 1-1/4oz. That could be changed to phenolic.
The 14 thrd pin & insert account for another approx. 1oz.
They could be replaced with a G-10 big pin.

This is going to cost you some money to have done correctly and nobody at Schon will like it.
Your other option is to keep looking. That ain't the only Schon ever made.
