I have a 9 foot Gold crown with a 3 fixture light. I would like to know if anybody else has a similar set up and what kinds of lights you guys use and wattage. I bought a book on table maintanance and they suggest 3 flourescent lights with 150 watts on the end and 100 watts in the middle (so you dont get a bright spot in the middle of the table - but I cant find bulbs in this wattage range that are small. Anybody have an ideas?? Thanks!

I have only 3 lights over my GC because it was impossible to put in a 4th. I use Philips "Director" bulbs - 100 watts each. They throw 35% more light down onto the table, though. They were designed for use in track lighting.

Are those flourescent Barbara?? Thanks for the tip!

I use 3-100 watt equivalent florescent bulbs in my 3-shade and it works great. I prefer florescent bulb light over incandescent because it is whiter and brighter, similar to the 48' bulbs used in a pool hall light.

Table lights

As long as we're talking lights, I've got a question or two. The lights we have for our new room are 4 half-globe style lights. Each bulb is currently 65 watt indoor flood. Our table mechanic recommended nothing stronger, for fear of putting a light pattern burn in the cloth. However, these aren't doing well. Lots of shadowing by the rails. We set them at 32 inches or so. Also tried them higher. Tried using socket extenders, which help a little bit. Changing shade style doesn't do much.

Would a 100 watt indoor flood, set closer to 38 inches above slate, be a decent compromise? Not wanting to buy 48 bulbs if it won't work.

Any suggestions would be welcome. We're planning to be open in a few days, so speed is important.

Thanks.
