Are the limited edition Predators holding there value or going up any? My buddy has i believe a LE-9, 1 0f 100 made. He's had it for like 2 or 3 years and maybe looking to get rid of it. (doesn't like the way it plays). It's in like 95% condition. Sat in the case most the time. I know what they retailed for but just don't want him to get taken on a sale or trade. Just lookin' for some info. Thanks

The underlying problem with reselling manufactured cues, even if they're limited edition has a lot to do with internet discount sales. Unfortunately for your friend, if he's able to sell that cue anywhere near the retail value, I'd be incredibly surprised. The fact is, many websites out there offer Predators for 20% off and this includes their Limited Edition Cues so automatically, you'll have to take off 20% before anyone comes close to taking a stab at it. On top of that, eBay can be no better since many of these online cue-dealers will offer products on eBay in an attempt to undercut the value of your sale. Lastly, as much as I love Predator, they're notorious for undercutting the value of "Limited Edition" by producing products that are nearly identical to the original series. Take the original Predator 2, for example. This was a Limited Edition cue that was given a serial number printed right on the butt-cap. Now they sell them in four color and you can have one in under 3 months.

Like selling anything used, much will depend on finding a buyer that REALLY wants that cue. If supply and demand are in your favor, any price can be had.

Thanks for the info. He knows he's not gonna get the 1400 it retailed for like three years ago. He would hope to get like 700 or 800 out of it.

700 or 800? I seriously doubt it...probably closer to 500 if he is lucky...just my .02. Cues sales are down cause of warm weather and golf season...hold on to it til the Fall.

From what I've seen, there's a relatively decent following of buyers picking up the Predator LE's. This site has an LE9 for sale. This was a high-end predator cue.

http://www.welovepool.com/prle9liedpoc.html

This is a retail site. The cue originally retailed for $1450 and they are asking $975. From what I've seen, the auction values are more in the $700 - $800 range. This actually is not too bad for a production cue.

Bear in mind that the Predator shafts alone have an excellent resale value. I just easily sold a used one for $150.

Drivermaker,

It finally sunk in. What you said. I decided to give it a try.

This is a true story.

I was playing the local shortstop last night. I decided to try my old conventional shaft. We played races to 9 in nine ball. I was playing pretty good. I won the first set handily, beating him 9 - 5 cruising in for a victory. There was all kinds of side action going on in the room.

The bet got jacked up in the second set. He poured it on and I made a few mistakes. He went on the hill first., it was 8 to 7. In game 16 I was on a run out playing tight position and hooked myself behind the 9 shooting at the 7 ball. I whipped out the bunjee, jumped a full ball pocketing the 7 in the side and stopped the cueball dead perfect, ran the 8 and 9 to go Hill/Hill.

The last rack broke bad and there were several clusters. I played a break out safe and hooked him good shooting at the 4 ball, but the 4 drifted too far and stopped just short of the side pocket. He tried to thin it in the side off a two rail kick and he missed the whole ball just by a hair. Now I got my money, my buddy's money and who knows what else on this and the whole room is watching.

I have ball in hand and everything's open. 6 balls to run. The last rack hill/hill is always the worst - it's never easy - I was grinding and I had to do some traveling. I got a little out of line on the 7 to get angle from the 8 to the 9. So I realized I had to spin the ball with inside and go three rails, or I would leave myself very long on the 8 and you don't want long shots hill/hill with three balls left.

So I hit the seven with high inside and - whamo the ball spits right out of the pocket and I lose the set.

So, screw you drivermaker!!!

Chris

Ps. Actually, it's not a true story. The truth is (it really is) I used my Predator, easily made the 6 ball run out, and won.
I would be nuts to change back to a regular shaft. You're off the hook.

Man...I was getting all jacked up and excited with your story and then you have to lay that on me. You prick! :D

Hey...I wouldn't think you were nuts if you went to a McDermott I.C.E. Now THAT is a great shaft. I even think you'd agree and might even put down the big "P" for good. Try it...then buy it...then kick some ass!

I'll check out the McDermott. My Predator is actually wearing a little thin so I will probably have a new one made up pretty soon anyway.
