Lines drawn on a table

If you draw straight lines on a table (corner to corner both ways for instance) do they provide a crutch that is not available if you play on another table? Said another way, if you use the lines to judge your straight in shots, does your alignment suffer if you don't have the lines. I have seen a few instructional videos where the guy has drawn straight lines on the table for practice, but don't want to use a crutch if will hurt my game in the long run. Any thoughts?

i think people mainly use the lines for setting up shots repeatedly and positioning balls on the table for drills - i havent heard of anyone using them for aiming. but i agree with you anyway. i wouldnt do it because the table would just look completely different then, and it would probably mess me up when going to a normal table.

I don't think using lines during practice will effect your performance at game time.

If you use a laser line or string to line up hole reinforcement labels, you won't need to mark your table, and you can quickly setup new 'lines'.
