Taiwanese wonder kid Chia-Ching Wu is also left-handed. At 15 years of age, he's the future champion for sure ! He ran 8 racks in junior WC and shot many 5-6 packs through the tournament...

I played on the WPBA part time as a semi-pro from 1994-2000. Although I never attained "touring pro" status, I am a leftie. I am right-handed at everything else I do, including using the bridge. Mike Sigel is the only other player that I've witnessed using the crutch right-handed. My husband used to tell me I was wired wrong, UNTIL he saw Mr. Sigel doing the same thing!

I saw Mike do an exhibition one time and he told the crowd that he is a natural right hander. He said that when he started to play pool he thought that he was supposed to hold the cue in his right hand and stroke with his left. He said that if someone had been there to straighten him out he would more than likely be a right handed shooter today. Makes you wonder if he would have been as successful shooting right handed instead.

I stand corrected, I thought he was left handed but must have confused him with someone else.

I do the same thing christy, thought I was the only one that did that.

I bet your both right eyed. Opposite handed as eyed is a great thing in most sports. It puts your best eye closer to the target. I'm left handed and right eyed. For example I've read that a very large majority of great batters in baseball were opposite handed as eyed.

Hi Lunchmoney

That is similar to my story. I also believed being right-handed I was supposed to hold the cue in my right hand. Someone did try to straighten me out, but I was stubborn and wouldnt listen. :D Whatever works, right?

Captain JR

You are right, I am right-eye dominant. Rude dog?

I don't remember the exact source but I believe I read somewhere that left-handed people tend to have better hand-eye coordination.

Nope, left eye. That's it, I'm gonna start playing right handed now, I'll never be the same again. Thanks Captain, now I gotta put 10 hours a day in for 10 years to catch up. :D

I'd like to know how many of these lefties are actually right-handed. I have found that a majority of good players play opposite handed. I dont know why this is and it is very interesting. I play right but am left handed.

I was reminded on another thread about Cecil Tugwell. He's a leftie all right, although he learned how to play pool right-handed and switched to playing left-handed later on in life.

Gremlin, that's a mighty impressive list you came up with! :)

JAM
I thought Cecil was right handed, and learned to play left handed. Thats the story I always heard. I just saw Cecil last week at Hard Times, he's about the only guy still left there from the good ole days when that place was action central.
Cecil looks the same, and still can play one pocket like very few can. That guy knows so much about the game I love to watch him play one pocket.

Exactly right Christy. Years of heavy practice can't hurt either!
