Little Al Romero

I hit some balls today with a little Al Romero cue. Was a house cue chopped with a wrap. Supposedly it was over 10 years old and a rare find..

I was told his cues are famous in California. The guy that had it played out of Hard Times.

Anyone care to share what they know about these cues and or the maker...

It played very well, not quite as stiff as I like but balanced very well.

Great player cues

First off his name is spelled Al Romero. I have owned 3 of his cues and still have one that I use on occasion. He makes a great player cue as he is quite an accomplished player. When I lived in Riverside CA from 87-92 I used to play tourneys at Hardtimes in Bellflower. This is where I was introduced to Al and his cues. If you get the chance to buy or order a cue I would highly recommend doing so as I think Al's is getting up in years. Not sure how many more cues he will produce.

I was told that he has stopped building cues.

Thanks for the spell check, I wasn't sure about the name

He's slowed down a bit. His son might take over.
At least you got AL right.:D
Al has built a ton of Valley house cue conversions.

You can see Al at every Derby City Classic, in the action games. Or he will assist Scott 'the shot', in the ring games. This guy has alot of energy. I had a few drinks with him and friends at the Derby. Great guy!!

I have owned one of Al's Valley sneakys. The hit was stout. The cue was nice with a simple satin finish with Romero burned on the forearm. It had brown phenolic at the joint with a 3/8 10 pin.
Back in the day Lil' Al was known for a killer break.
