there are different ways to chalk up. the snooker way, to brush across once or twice. the oliver ortmann method of almost boring a hole in the cube, from the extreme speed/heat/friction. the tony drago way, only chalk once across right before the 6-ball. and the shush shush rythmic method, that bustamante and myself prefer. why bring this up? i noticed, that chalking up in a certain way, helps my game. after i got my new capone shaft, my cue making friend, said, ok, now, here's how you keep your shaft clean, tilt the cue, brush away, a few times, let the residue of chalk particles fall on the floor and away from the shaft. in other words, chalk up like karen corr, but with the cue tilted, so the residue falls away. well, i tried this method, for a month or so. my shaft stayed clean as a whistle, but my game suffered! why? i figured out, my rythme was off, way off! i said screw it, and went back to the regular way of chalking up, and my game came back, and i just make sure i use more paper towels on my shaft more often. problem solved. i also noticed, it seems that most of the time, not all of the time but most of the time, the person who gets up early in a race, is usually the person who wins the race. for instance, if the score is 5-3 in a race to 7, usually the person who has 5, will be the eventual winner. another observation, people play differntly depending on the enviroment. with no one watching, people play sloppy. with just a few people watching people play well. with a lot of people watching, people make mistakes, but the better players will straighten out fast, and play the to the table, not to the crowd. another thing i noticed, when your opponent gets up to the table to make the final money ball, and he hears people say, oh, this is an easy shot, what happens is he will usually miss, however, if he hears people say, this shot is real difficult, he will probaly make it, what will happen is he will hear this, and "rise" to the occassion, just to rub it in your face. furthermore, i noticed it is much better to walk around the table after each rack and collect the balls from drop pockets, than it is to, collect the balls from one place, and every once in a while have to bend ALL THE WAY DOWN and go under the table, to search for that one missing ball. and finally, for now, i noticed, between steve tipton, and mitch laurence, they both have very easy jobs, but i guess mitch has it easier, because, he gets to sit down. good night from new york.

Chalking your tip

Bernie,

You failed to mention the 'BEST' way to get the chalk to stick to your tip! Get a METAL ladder, Find a light socket close to the pool table your playing on, take the bulb out!! NOW, find a piece of gold master chalk (HAS to be gold!) Then slightly WET it, not too much!! OK! Make SURE the switch is in the ON position...NOW...start screwing the chalk into the socket!! You will find it to be almost a PERFECT fit. As your screwing it in....you can FEEL the energy being transmitted thru to the chalk!! (Works best if your sweating a little!)

What happens is.....the chalk is 'electrostatically' BONDED to your tip!! Should last a LONG time.....if your rather have a more 'permanent' and longer lasting effect....go out to your FUSEBOX....yank a breaker out...One of those 'double' ones work BEST!! Then, stick the tip between the RED and BLACK wires in front of you. (ONLY works if your shaft is MOIST!!)

GUARANTEED you'll NEVER have to worry about chalk on your tip anymore!!!

after i got my new capone shaft,

Am I the only one the picked up on this? You're cheating with a Capone shaft on your Mali instead of a Mali shaft? I have a feeling you still can't use 2 tips of side and get the cue ball to spin in place for 45 seconds...nor can you draw your rock 1 1/2 table lengths on slow cloth...nor can you aim a 7 foot shot with extreme high left exactly on the object ball contact point without compensation for squirt...nor can you hit the OB with a soft stroke and run it around the table 3 rails just from super spin. When are you going to stop being a dumb ass and wasting your money on custom shafts that don't use any of the new bore through technology? Dumb ass people really get under my skin!
