After the recent threads about Chen Simeng, her level of play and the comparisons to Wu Chia Ching's young world championship my old brain recalled the 2009 Women's World Champoinship won by Liu Sha Sha.

I went back and re watched the finals and it is a treat to see. Link to first video here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GZt6UHbbaXQ&feature=related

After a little shaky start and being down 5-1 to Karen Corr, Liu won 8 straight games to take the match 9-5. Included in that run was a 5 pack.

She was 16 at the time.

If you watch it, the shot that got me was in the last game. On the hill at 8-5, Liu broke, made four balls on the break but had a long tough shot off the rail at the 4 ball. She calmly drilled it and proceeded to run out for the win.

BTW - Fu Xiao Fang who won the 2010 WC is Liu's older sister I think.

And both Sha Sha and Fang will be in the US for a few months starting in late May or early June to enter open tournaments. Johnnyt

Would be really nice to get reports from their events in US. Guess they can push lots of established players in US.

In 2009 Liu ShaSha beat Karen Corr to win the WC and in 2010 Fu Xiao Fang beat Allison for her title. And in getting to those finals they beat the rest of the best.

I think they can push anybody anywhere.

Didn't Liu Shasha beat SVB too in some tournament?
When I first saw Liu Shasha play I thought,
"This girl might be the new Allison Fisher".

I believe you're thinking of the match/tournament Yu Ram Cha beat Shane. Both Sha Sha and Fang beat some big name men for money in th PI a few months ago while training at Star Billiard Center. Johnnyt

No they are not sisters by blood.
They grew up together in the same village in Henan, China. They are really close friends since childhood. And Xiaofang, introduced Shasha to her trainer and they call each other sisters in all media interviews.

Liu Sha Sha and Fu Xiao Fang are indeed sisters.
