Not that long ago i made a post about having live chat. I really like the Forum But when you have read and made a post to them all you sort of run out of things to do on the forum, I just think a live chat would make a great site that much better! Does anyone else feel the same way?

While watching the DCC on BCn it was fun to be able to chat at the same time. Everyone can still swing by that chat just by registering or go to the same one on PPP, but then again the same one could be incorporated on this website as well.

Ive heard many people say the same thing. I just think it would be a good idea and after all you can still keep the forum also.

OK, do we like the idea of a full fledged Chat Room or just a shout box?

I have looked at a couple different chat systems and I would like something that integrates completely with the forums. Still trying to decide on exactly which one I like the most.

I think that if you are to have a chat room, we would need to have designated chat times and such, or hosts, or maybe pool celebs in the room now and then to make it interesting. Personally I think a shout box would suffice for now, mainly because it updates frequently and is similar to chat, but you dont have to go to a separate page to view it.

Make the design framed in a way that you can have a chat session running at the bottom of the screen, and still be able to search the forums on the split screen. :)

I agree for a chat room Mike...having pros in now and again (limited possibilities understood) would be great.

They both sound great to me ...But gotta tell ya loved the fisherman forum you linked on. Sent it to several of our friends. Bob and I love to fish and go as often as possible. Deep sea fishing all over the world and Bob flys out of Red Lake Canada to Lake McInnis for northerns, lakers and walleye.

I'm with Cardinal Syn, I'm not sure what the difference is either. I used the chat room provided by PPP for the DCC and liked it a lot. I think you've done a fantastic job on this forum, Mike, so I feel very confident that you will make the right choice.

A shoutbox is similar to a chat area. It is just attached to the forum so that you can interact in it while you are still reading the forums.

It is something I am going to install to see how much it is used before I drop the bucks for a full blown chat package.

Chat ? I don't have anything to say. I prefer to sit in the back and listen and make the occasional bet. Oh, and drink some BEER. OK ?

Just out of curiousity. How much is reququired for the chat room? Compared to the shoutbox.

Depends on which package I go with. At least $500 for what I am looking at. More if I want moderation and all of that.

aaaaa,,,ya don't need moderation. we've all dealt with poolroom banter. we're adults.

so you're not going to try the free software for chat?
