Lizard Wrap Question

I'm thinking about having a cue made and I really like how some of the natural lizard wraps look. Do these absorb chalk over time like a lighter colored linen wrap? I'd love to get a stick made with this wrap, but not if the wrap will become discolored over time.

If Lee from LP custom cues reads this post, I'd be especially interested in your input as I'm leaning towards your services at the moment as I'm saving up for my own custom cue to be made.

Here are some of the wraps in question:

After reading your question I realized I had no idea either.
So I did a little experiment.

I rubbed some blue Masters chalk on a ringtail lizard wrap just like in the photo.

While the majority of it came off with a little soap and water, there was still a slight stain.

I rubbed a little more in the same spot, cleaned it with soap and water again. The spot got a little darker and a little bigger.

Not very scientific but I think after awhile the wrap would get dirty. Especially if you sweat and the wrap gets a little moist.

In my opinion, the white ringtail lizard wrap is more for highend show cues that dont see much play, than an every day player.

Also one more thing.
The lizard wrap can be cleared over so you have the apperance of a lizard wrap but the feel of a wrapless cue.
But if you are wanting the feel of the lizard wrap, then this isnt an option.

The only problem I find with real lizard is over time of constant play the scales will wear down and the wrap will flatten out and look bad. There are alot if embossed that look great and hold up better then real for an everyday player. Just something to consider
