Loctite Professional

I have used Loctite Professional myself some, but have found the Loctite Super Glue Gel to hold tips about the same. One advantage to the Professional is the price on the bottle and the fact it penetrates the tips to give a good bond. Using it as a primer makes a lot of sense though I have never done any ahead like that. I have let it dry on some Moori tips that were going on those soft white import ferrules. Then sand it and use another coat of it before applying to ferrule. Okay here is the down side. If you don't let it dry on Moori tips for instance it can soak up most of the glue and not give a good bond. It also picks up the color from coated tips like Elk Master and Sumo and runs it all over everything. Sometimes it tries to melt it into the soft ferrules.
So I like the Loctite 454 and Loctite Super Glue Gel as a all around good tip glue. They do not stick to your fingers as fast and do not run the color all over everthing. Duro Quick Gel was my favorite as long as they made it in the USA. Now that it is made in Brazil it is not the same glue. I suspect the Loctite Super Glue Gel might be the same formula as the old Duro Quick Gel, but it is twice the price. Down side with 454 or Super Glue Gel is the cost and often it goes bad in the tube before being used up.
Soaking the sanded glue side of tips ahead of time with Loctite Professional and then sanding them and gluing them on with either of the above three glues (L454, LSGG, or LP) sounds like some of the best advice that has been put on here to me so far.

I use to get the small tubes of the 454 i think they were 3 gram. Same size as the duro tubes they were like $4.00 a tube not as much wast as the big tubes. I agree with Chris about the sumo and elkmaster tips. The professinal makes these tips bleed on to the ferrule if your not very careful. I haven't lost a tip with the professional yet. The price is an upside and also the fact you don't need to refrigerate it once opened. Any one ever tried the Atlas CA gel? Shawn Putnam tell's me the Tiger tip glue is good also.

Just to add- I actually use the precision more then the other for priming, and they both seem to work about the same for me. The 454 seems to be the nuts for glueing tip and ferrule, but as Chris mentioned It's not so hot when a tube goes bad. If someone was to have more then one tip popoff in a row, they may want to toss the tube and get a fresh one, because It will only get worse as time goes on. As far as fresh tubes go, It works as well or better then most others though. I use to use the duro also, but I had the same problem when they changed where It was made. I probably have 10-15 different type Ca's on hand most of the time, but the brand I use the most of is loc-tite. I saw they have a wood glue, Has anyone tried it yet? Wondering how It compares to titebond.

I've used both of those glues, have them on hand right now, but unfortunatly I have'nt used them enough to form and honest opinion. Guess It's hard to break away from what's working, but I used them a couple of times, and don't have any complaints from those times. The tube from atlas That I have seems alittle thinner then 454. The Tiger sets really fast so got to watch those fingers ;) :D
